Better Future Factory - From Waste to Product

Future Factory is a sustainable design and engineering studio based in Rotterdam. We help companies transform their waste streams into great products.

Iconic start

Back in 2012 we created the Perpetual Plastic Project, the world’s first mobile, interactive recycling machine for transforming plastic waste into 3D prints. We have been running workshops and distributing copies of this machine around the world ever since, thus inspiring and educating people about a new economy, a circular one. It became the backbone of our way of working at the Better Future Factory today. We help companies create sustainable, iconic products that inspire colleagues and clients, often becoming a stepping stone for bigger change.

New solutions to an old problem

It’s time to make a change and find new solutions to old waste problems. We want to make waste a resource and start closing loops, moving away from linear thinking and embracing the circular economy. At Better Future Factory we combine our idealistic drive with a pragmatic approach, creating tangible solutions. We believe in re-imagineering products and processes into iconic, sustainable and scalable solutions. Engaging stories and innovative engineering have the power to create a cleaner and better future.

Plastic Expertise

It’s time to give plastic the appreciation it deserves and to stop wasting waste. Plastic is a beautiful material with properties that other materials can’t match, so we should use this for more than only one life cycle. Over the years we’ve specialised in this material and found a range of innovative ways of recycling plastics.

Upscaling for impact

The Perpetual Plastic machine triggered our second startup, Refil. We upscaled the making of recycled filament to an industrial scale, creating the first globally available, high quality, recycled 3D printing filament.
