bio!PAC 2019
Packaging is necessary for:
- protection during transport and storage
- prevention of product losses
- increasing shelf life
- sharing product information and marketing
Alternatives
Packaging does not necessarily need to be made from fossil-based plastics. Most packaging have a short life and therefore give rise to large quantities of waste. Accordingly, it is vital to use the most suitable raw materials and implement good ‘end-of-life’ solutions. Biobased materials can have a key role to play in this respect
Biobased packaging
- can be recyclable and/or compostable
- fits into the circular economy of the future
- is made from renewable resources or waste streams
- can offer environmental benefits in the end-of-life phase
- can offer innovative features and beneficial barrier properties
- can help to reduce the depletion of finite fossil resources and CO2 emissions
bio!PAC 2019
That‘s why Green Serendipity is co-organizing (together with Bioplastics Magazine) the 3rd edition of bio!PAC - conference on packaging made from biobased materials, i.e. from renewable resources.
Experts from all areas of biobased materials will present their latest developments. The conference will not only cover biobased materials and application examples from suppliers and brand owners. Different disposal options (end-of-life scenarios) will also be discussed as well as the availability of agricultural land for material use versus food and feed
The full 2-day conference will be held on the 28th and 29th of May 2019 in Düsseldorf, Germany (venue).
